Yesterday was the Ski Patrol First Aid competition at Vorlage here in Gatineau Zone. My crack team (which, incidentally, was put together the night before) came in second place. I'm very proud of those boys! Next stop, Division comp in Saguenay, QC.
It is my last weekend before I leave, and today me, Dad, and Aiden spent the afternoon at Scotiabank Place to watch the Sens Skills competition. Very family oriented, a lot of fun, and it was just great spending time with my favourite male Plantes! I did miss Marissa's first recital, but Lisa taped it and I did have a chance to watch it. That little girl sure melts my heart.
I've got a full blown cold, which I'm a bit glad is happening now and not next week. Nothing would suck more than feeling like crap while either flying to Vancouver or standing outside at Cypress with your head feeling like ten tons of lead, sniffling at spectators, etc. Canadian snot does not win any gold medals, no matter what. But it sure makes a fine icicle.
Tomorrow I start packing. Just need to figure out what, how much, and ensure I don't forget anything. Volunteers do get a pretty awesome uniform, but you have to consider the many layers you need to have in order to be prepared for warm, cold, and wet weather all at once. I also need to anticipate the weather in Whistler for my day of skiing with my cousin, which WILL rock!
I've already met some great online volunteers, following their experience pre-Olympic via Facebook, and it will be cool meeting them in person. Different backgrounds, different interests, but we all share the same passion for the Games. Vancouver 2010 will be the common thread that will link us all for life.
Saints are up by a touchdown. It's gonna be close. CTV is rolling out the Olympic commercials like nobody's business. I hope it gets the country pumped up.
Till next time...
