Today is Lisa's birthday. She's 38, looks 28, and sometimes she's going on 18, sometimes 48, depending on what the day demands.
As the mother to my two children, she has a pretty tough job, but I have to say (something I don't say often enough) she's done an outstanding job so far. She's such a loving mom, there's not a thing she would not do for her kids. She understands them much better than I give credit for, but they know, and that's reflected in the way they look to her for comfort and love.
She's been my best friend for nearly 18 years, my soul mate since the day we were born. Probably one of the funniest people I know, she never fails to bring belly laughs. She understands and knows me better than I know myself.
When I look into the future, I see our two gnarled, arthritic hands intertwined, looking out over the backyard, our kids playing with our grandkids, and I know that we are destined for a long and happy life together.
Happy Birthday Lisa. You are my lover, my best friend, and you deserve much happiness!
